Maternity: As a mother, new or not, the idea of having your picture taken is not on your list of priorities as you just aren't feeling very photogenic; but these are great memories to have. As a mom of two boys, believe me, I understand the want for sweat pants, messy bun, and 10 cups of coffee. But this is great way to pamper yourself. Take a day, that is just for you, and document the wonderful gift that is growing inside of you. Fireflies and Lullabies Photography offers both lifestyle maternity sessions and regular maternity sessions. Our lifestyle maternity sessions are simple maternity sessions that capture you in the comfort of your own home; while our regular maternity sessions give you the opportunity to get all dolled up with hair & makeup. Depending on which one you choose your session could last between 1 and 2 hours’ time.

Newborn

Newborn: Babies make the heart grow fonder. Like the sea beckons to sailors, babies are my passion and calling in photography. From the moment your little one enters this world they are changing. Oftentimes parents do not realize exactly how much their little one changes until they look back on photos. Newborn photography is meant to capture those little details: eyelashes, baby back rolls, tiny fingernails, wispy hairs, etc. and encapsulate them; holding in time, forever, just how tiny your little one was. Because your tiny human is so precious you want someone who is trained and experienced in photographing newborns as safety is the number one goal. (Please research and choose your newborn photographer carefully!)

  Ideally, newborn sessions are for babies under 14 days old because they are still as flexible as they were in your womb and because they are more apt to sleep during the session. However, this doesn’t mean that babies older than 14 days can’t be photographed as “newborns” at a later time. They can. So, don’t stress over age too much.

 Whenever you step inside my home studio for a newborn session, you will notice that it is really warm. This is to ensure that the baby can be and is as comfortable and as warm as possible when they are being posed and photographed. I recommend that you feed the baby once you get to the studio, so their belly can be full thus allowing them to settle down and sleep. Most babies will sleep almost the entire time which is wonderful, but don’t worry is your little one doesn’t. Fireflies and Lullabies Photography can work well with sleepy babies and awake babies. Siblings and family shots are welcomed with/for your little one. However, it is understandable if some siblings may not want to sit still for the baby’s photo shoot. Do not stress over it, but it is recommended that you bring someone who can help you with your other child(ren) so that the baby’s area remains calm and quiet.

  The ultimate goal of Fireflies and Lullabies Photography is to make your experience one-of-a-kind while keeping your baby safe and making you feel at home. Newborn sessions are estimated to run between 1 hour-2.5 hours in length because we will be completely on the baby’s schedule. This will allow for any feedings, changings or cuddlings that need to take place during the photo shoot.
